A turned steel shaft with milled flats through the middle section, so a spanner, a coupling or a grub screw has something to bite on.
The turned diameters and the milled flats are done in-house on the lathe and the machining centre, so the relationship between the flat and the diameter stays where your drawing puts it. Keyways, cross holes and a thread at either end are all straightforward to add.
